Watch: Umphrey’s McGee Live Concert Webcast Aug 8, 6:45 PM."Tune in August 8th to see Umphrey’s McGee perform LIVE on Yahoo Screen! #YahooLive. After 17-plus years of performing more than 100 concerts annually, releasing eight studio albums and selling more than 3.5 million tracks online, Umphrey’s McGee might be forgiven if they chose to rest on their laurels. But then that wouldn’t be consistent with the work ethic demonstrated by the band, which consistently attempts to raise the bar, setting and achieving new goals since forming on the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana, in 1997. After releasing their eighth studio album, Similar Skin, the first for their own indie label, Nothing Too Fancy (N2F) Music (distributed by RED), the group continue to push the envelope and test the limits. Their brand-new studio album, The London Session, was a dream come true for the members having been recorded at the legendary Studio Two at historic Abbey Road. The stealth recording sessio…

Listen: Beck - "Defriended" - New Single

Image
The day has finally arrived, although I admit to sometimes feeling as if it never would. On the other hand, I never truly doubted that Beck would make new music, or that when he did; it would be solely on his terms, naturally. Major hat tip too Coslive for breaking the story along with the info that Beck will be self-releasing, not one, but two new albums.

New Video: "How Long" from Trent Reznor's, New Band; "How To Destroy Angels"

The members of How To Destroy Angels, a collective featuring Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, his wife and singer Mariqueen Maandig, art director Rob Sheridan and the brilliant composer Atticus Ross, have an unambiguously grim view of where civilization is headed. In a new video for the song "How Long," from the band's upcoming album Welcome Oblivion, man hunts man in (surprise) a terrifying, dystopian future.

Credit: Courtesy of the artist The video was created and directed by the London-based visual arts collective Shynola. While there are only three characters in the short film, it speaks volumes about our reptilian instincts for survival. In a joint email, the members of Shynola say they "had a great conversation where the band articulated their ideas about modern identity, the effect of technology on culture and our inability to connect with others. We're fascinated by anthropology and coincidentally we had been toying with ideas for a feature film a…

Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day
Audio And Video From Legendary 2007 Concert To Be Available In Multiple Configurations On November 19

Concert Slated For Global Theatrical Release On October 17 (Los Angeles, Sept. 13, 2012) – On December 10, 2007,  Led Zeppelin took the stage at London’s O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band’s signature blues-infused rock ’n’ roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalog including landmark tracks “Whole Lotta Love,” “Rock And Roll,” “Kashmir,” and “Stairway To Heaven.” Although 20 million people applied for tickets, the band’s first headline show in 27 years was seen only by the 18,000 ticket holders who were fortunate enough to have sec…

Moon Taxi Listed As 4th "Tennessee Band You Should Listen to Now'":: 2012 Bonnaroo Videos Call For Reconsideration

Band Members: Trevor Terndrup, Spencer Thomson, Tommy Putnam, Wes Bailey, Tyler Ritter
Current Release:Cabaret
This five-man band—formed in 2006 at Nashville’s Belmont University—treats preserving “breathing space” in their music like an art form. While they were in the studio recording their latest album, Caberet (which features a guest appearance from Matisyahu) the band says they aimed for the minimalism of bands like Radiohead. “Gunflower” hits that “less-is-more” nail right on the head, where a heart-wrenching chorus adds emotional weight to the song’s simple structure.

Fifth on the Floor - Distant Memory Lane (Official Video)

Image
The Lexington, KY based band Fifth on the Floor,
publicly invited fans, via the band's twitter feed (@FifthontheFloor), to head over to YouTube and view the new official music video for song,"Distant Memory Lane", from the album "Dark and Bloody Ground."

The video, directed by Blake Judd, edited by Jacob Ennis, and produced by JuddFilms and Tuckywood Productions, was filmed at various sites in and near Lexington, Kentucky, including The Green Lantern. is definitely worth a viewing. Likewise, "Distant Memory Lane" is worth more than several listens itself; as it certainly embodies that, energized country/Americana roots-rock sound, that Fifth on the Floor has truly honed into a sound all their own.

Listen: Ryan Adams, 'Ashes And Fire' in Full | NPR

Image
Photo: David Black Ryan Adams' new album, Ashes & Fire, comes out Oct. 11. You never know which Ryan Adams you're going to get. Is he crooning, or is he raging? Is the music metal, or twangy country? He can successfully crib just about any style of popular music he chooses: the Dead, the Stones, The Flying Burrito Brothers — it's all in his wheelhouse. You can't help but ask: Will the real Ryan Adams ever stand up?
Now, throw into that complex mix his recent marriage to Mandy Moore, a two-year hiatus from music (long for him, certainly), and a chronic and painful inner-ear affliction called Ménière's disease, which apparently causes him to hear strange tones and fall over things. No, it's not the drink or drugs: He says he's clean and living healthy. In a recent interview, Adams said he's had to completely relearn music because of the Ménière's.
This time out, we have a happy (we hope) and clean (we'll take his word) Adams, making perhaps hi…
